The Poetry Intelligencer is Launched

I have just uploaded the first edition of my planned weekly Poetry Podcast, "The Poetry Intelligencer." At least until this post scrolls down, there should be a little box just to the right of what you are reading right now where you can listen, download, or subscribe. Let me know what you think!
I really consider this to be something of a rough draft, both content and technology-wise. I am certain I don't understand my audio studio software completely, and I am also certain that my narration is imperfect -- but I wanted to get this thing off the ground!

Podcast Almost Ready

My initital poetry podcast -- I have named it the "Poetry Intelligencer." I am going to use this blog, for now, to house my show notes. I plan on reviewing the podcast with my daughters tonight and posting it as early as tomorrow.

The floor is all finished in my new studio, and I am starting to set things up for my first shoots this weekend.

Poetry Podcast

I have spent a lot of time lately -- time that was formerly not as well used -- listening to Photography podcasts. There are a lot of good ones out there, and I have become very interested in the medium. I have decided to start my own weekly podcast -- on poetry. It will have an advanced secondary educational bent, but will be designed to be accessible to anyone who is interested. I am going to focus on the poetry I know and love best -- the English Romantics. Stay tuned for more updates. I get my podcasting studio from Amazon on Toosday!

Garage Studio

I am renting a 20x40' garage/storage unit to use as my studio. It is cheap and very flexible -- a big open room with 16' ceiling. I am quie excited about the possibilities -- and the picture shows where I am starting.
It seems like lots of people use their garage for a studio; I didn't have a spare garage, so I found one. It has a 100 amp power box with enough current to light a small city. It is almost all neutral colors -- the ceiling, the floor, the walls. The owner is giving me a great deal of latitude in what I do with the unit. I plan on keeping it kind of a quasi-industrial feel, but clearly a studio. I am drawing some of my inspiration from the facilities at Shootsmarter.

Poetry and Semiology

I made some compelling connections this week, linking my scant knowledge of semiology with a means of interpreting and understanding poetry. I teach AP English at Ki-Be High School. Early Wednesday morning, I threw my thoughts together into a Power Point presentation and then gave an hour-lomg lecture 1st hour. It worked pretty well. Here is a copy of the presentation: Semiology and Poetry. If the link works as I hope it does.
There. I didn't want to start my first-ever blog entry, on my own blog no less, by saying "this is my first blog entry ever." So I got 'round that one rather nicely.
I am a teacher and a photographer. In that order. I am not sure quite how the latter came about; perhaps I will address that later as the blog develops. I have a passion for both.
I had a busy day today. I polished off my new web site, which should go live on Monday; I designed a marketing piece for Senior Portraits which I think is quite clever; I designed a new business card, which I would give a B- grade to; and I made arrangements to seal the floor at my new studio this weekend.
And in the morning I am supposed to run the St. Patrick's day race with my daughter. We'll see.
